Bounce rate shows the percentage of visitors who leave your site after viewing just one page. If it goes above 80%, it may indicate click fraud or bot traffic.
Why bots cause high bounce rates:
- they don’t scroll or click;
- they exit quickly after page load;
- they interact with nothing;
- there’s no mouse movement or attention span.
When a high bounce rate is normal:
- the page has one purpose (e.g. a phone number);
- the user gets an instant answer (e.g. pricing);
- the traffic is organic, not paid.
How to tell if it’s fraud:
- Compare bounce rate by traffic source.
- Use AntiClick to analyze visitor behavior.
- Segment by geo, device, and user-agent.
- Check session time — <5 seconds = suspicious.
