How to Tell If a Bot Clicked Your Ad Instead of a Human

Fraud isn’t always obvious. But by analyzing post-click behavior, you can easily spot whether a bot clicked your ad.

Signs a bot clicked:

  • session lasts < 3 seconds;
  • no events triggered (no scroll, no clicks);
  • session starts and ends on the same page;
  • user-agent looks generic or suspicious;
  • IP is tied to VPN, proxy, or hosting server.

Signs of real engagement:

  • user stays for 20+ seconds;
  • clicks CTA or browses multiple pages;
  • scrolls, reads, interacts;
  • returns later;
  • IP matches a stable location within your target audience.

What to do:

  1. Use AntiClick to log post-click behavior.
  2. Compare bots vs. human patterns.
  3. Block non-interactive traffic.
  4. Exclude fraudulent IPs from your ad campaigns.
